Sunflowers thrive in full sun, with most varieties blooming for several weeks during the middle of summer. They’re one of the taller flowers on this list, with some varieties measuring 14 feet in height.
You can find these beautiful annual flowers in every colour but blue! They can also be multicoloured. Zinnias’ bloom during the summer and do best in full sun and well-drained rich soil.
Marigolds are one of the hardiest flowers you can plant in your garden. The cheerful annuals grow in shades of yellow, red and gold.
They thrive in full sun and prefer well-drained soil. Marigolds bloom brightly all summer long and grow anywhere from 6 inches to 3 feet tall.
These annuals can be found in orange, pink and white. They love full sun but do appreciate some afternoon shade if planted in hotter climates.
Cosmos bloom throughout the summer months and can grow anywhere from 18 to 60 inches tall. These daisy lookalikes also help repel mosquitoes!

These annuals bloom during the summer and fall months in partial sun or shade and can grow anywhere between 6 to 12 inches tall in fertile soil.
Don’t let the name of this flower fool you. Pansies are anything but wimpy. These plants are one of the toughest flowers you can grow.
This resilient plant does best with sun and rich soil that drains easily. Most pansies are annuals, but some live a bit longer.
To grow to their full potential, pansies need regular watering. But even in perfect conditions these flowers won’t grow very big, only growing between 6 to 9 inches.

Grown as annuals, impatiens are great low-maintenance plants. They grow quickly and once planted they require very little care.
These tiny plants also won’t grow more than a foot and bloom non-stop from spring to first frost.
Coneflowers bloom in the early summer until or through the first frost. They can be planted in full sun, but they do enjoy afternoon shade as it keeps them from fading.
These perennials can be found in bright pink, purple or crimson and adding them to your garden can attract butterflies, bees and birds.
Daylilies enjoy full sun and can adapt to a wide range of soils while still growing robustly. When choosing daylilies for your garden, you can select varieties that bloom in the early, middle, or late summer. Regardless of when they bloom, they can grow up to 4 feet tall.
The final plant on this list is the popular petunia. These annuals can manage full and partial sun and require little maintenance. They bloom in the spring, summer and fall and range anywhere from 6 inches to 4 feet in height.
