With the passing of summer comes autumn, a time to enjoy Mother Nature’s fashion show while working in the garden, prepping yards to withstand winter’s wrath.
The work done by Tree Amigos and our new division, Concept Creations, this past summer may have included new fencing or deck work, landscaping, privacy screens, pergolas or stone work. It’s time to take a look at your newly landscaped yard, to see what can be done to protect it from winter’s harsh weather.
Tree Amigo’s maintenance experts suggest protecting your investment, so come spring, it won’t take long to get your dream yard up and running.
Our services for autumn include pruning, protecting your shrubs, adding mulch to protect small plantings, removing excess leaves, cutting back annuals, aerating and overseeding lawn and applying fall fertilizer. Now is a good time to add trees, too, and plant bulbs for spring.
Preparing your whole yard for winter means doing more than just wrapping a few shrubs. Tree Amigos’ expert gardeners have come up with a list for autumn yard maintenance, some of which can be done by homeowners:
* drain hoses and put away (remember to turn off water at source and open spigots to keep them from freezing);
* clear eavestroughs of debris from summer to ensure good drainage;
* inspect and repair roof (best to have the experts handle this);
* put away or protect porch and patio furniture and accessories, such as chairs, tables, umbrellas, lighting and decorative pots;
* trim back trees near home, to lessen chance of damage during winter storms;
* locate ice melter and snow shovels and place them in a spot handy for sudden snowstorms or freezing rain;
* make a winter survival kit for the car, one that includes a blanket, bottle of water, snacks and a candle with matches, and
* if you wish, decorate for holidays while weather is slightly warm, to avoid having to do this in colder weather.
It’s a busy time of year, but Tree Amigos and Concept Creations experts are hard at work, protecting your dream yard and planning for winter snow removal season.
Our snow services include plowing, salting and de-icing, clearing walkways, relocating or stacking snow, removing snow to another location, and our loader service.
Don’t hesitate to ask us to give you a hand, whether it’s planning for future landscaping or snow removal, or protecting your existing utopia from winter damage.
